If you wish to use your insurance, you will pay my full fee upfront, and your insurance company may reimburse a percentage to you directly. You’ll need to call your insurance company to understand what’s covered under your plan.

Education Student Accounts (ESA+) scholarship funds help North Carolina families pay for education and services for children with disabilities, including autistic children.

North Carolina families can use ESA+ scholarship funds to pay for certain qualifying education expenses, such as educational therapy, tutoring and supplemental teaching services, and transportation to and from an educational activity, subject to review and approval by SEAA.

I’m an enrolled provider for the ESA+ scholarship, and I’m approved to accept ESA+ scholarship funds.

Please be aware that not all services I offer meet the criteria for qualifying education expenses under the ESA+ scholarship. For example, parent-only sessions and parent support group sessions do not meet criteria.

My goal is to work myself out of a job as soon as possible, helping your child and family heal, while ensuring that your positive changes last for years and years to come. Toward this end, I partner with families in an intense, focused, and relatively short-term way. I encourage most families to plan for at least 3 months of weekly sessions, and we continuously evaluate our progress.

I have learned through experience that a parent’s level of motivation in therapy is one of the best predictors of speedy progress. You get back what you put in. I choose to work with highly motivated parents who prioritize their child’s health in a big way. My folks are ready to put in the time, energy, and money because they see therapy as an investment in their lifelong relationship with their child. This high level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment propels our work and leads to deeper changes for children, sooner.

Within my practice, I hold the boundary of weekly sessions. In my experience this leads to the very best outcomes for families for a number of reasons. With regular scheduling, there's less catch-up time week-to-week, more traction and momentum toward the goals, and fewer forgotten sessions or scheduling snafus. This scheduling arrangement also allows my caseload to stay very, very small, so I am more emotionally available to each of my families.

After working with many parents and kids over the past 15 years, I haven't witnessed many successful outcomes with families who engage in therapy only 1-2 times a month. I want our work to be effective. I want relief for you and your child as soon as possible. I don’t want to waste your time or money!

If your child has insurance that will help you pay for therapy, you can easily find an "in-network" therapist by searching by your insurance provider on Psychology Today's website or by contacting your insurance company directly for a list local of providers.

If your child doesn't have insurance (or there are no providers accepting the insurance plan you have, or your co-pay is unaffordable, or your high deductible hasn't been met), I recommend becoming a member of Open Path Psychotherapy Collective for a one-time fee of $49. If you can afford $30-60 per session, this is an amazing option as many wonderful therapists in Asheville participate. 

If $30-60/week is not workable, call The Asheville Center for Contemplative Psychotherapy Community Clinic or All Souls Counseling Center, where you can find support based directly on your financial need, sometimes as low as $5 per session.

My point here is: Lack of financial resources is no reason to forgo therapy for your child. Help is available.
